Hair Removal Where To Remove Hair Excess

Body hair is removed from different body parts by people all over the world for reasons as varied as for looking beautiful for convenience, or even as a ritual in some cultures. The body parts from which hair is removed most frequently are face, armpits, arms and legs in women and face in men. Apart from these, many people also remove hair from other body parts like abdomen, chest, back, neck, bikini line and genital area.

For Men
Men are mostly concerned with removal of facial hair for which they shave regularly or daily. Most men also remove hair from their armpits for hygienic reasons.

For the new-age man who is more aesthetically inclined, more conscious of his appearance, and wants to look extremely well-groomed, the trend of a hairless body is fast catching on. So, modern day men may remove hair from their chests, back, stomach, arms, legs or genital area according to their individual preferences. On the other hand, many men prefer to sport a beard and may not want to remove their facial hair in entirety!

Some men also shave off hair from their heads for religious reasons as in monks, to show their support towards a particular cause or belief, or even to imitate their favourite star personality.

For Women
Women remove body hair, mostly, to look attractive and to confirm to the accepted and desired standards of a hairless body which is considered feminine and beautiful in most societies of the world. Women, most commonly, remove excess hair from eyebrows, upper lips, arms and forearms, armpits and legs.

Face
Eyebrow shaping is the most frequent form of hair removal from the face among women. Other common areas include upper and lower lips, chin, sideburns and space between eyebrows. Threading, plucking, waxing and bleaching are the commonly employed methods of hair removal from the face.

Arms and Armpits
Women usually have fine vellus hair growth on the arms and forearms, which they may or may not remove depending on how conspicuous it is.

Armpit hairs are regularly removed by most women for hygienic and aesthetic purposes. Shaving is the most preferred method for hair removal from armpits, followed by waxing and even epilating.

Abdomen
Many women have prominent hair on their abdomen in the form of a line extending between the navel and the pubic joints. This hair is usually removed for aesthetic reasons. Some women may have excess hair on the rest of their abdomen too, requiring hair removal.

Chest and Back
Some women may have dark or prominent hair on their chest or back which they may wish to remove. A few thick, stray hairs around the nipple are common in many women, which demand gentle removal.

Legs
Most women remove excess, unwanted hair from their legs so that they can flaunt their smooth, lovely legs and wear any type of dress they desire, without having to worry about conspicuous hair. This holds true especially during the sweltering heat of the summer season.

Bikini Line and Genital Area
A lot of women remove unwanted hair from the bikini line so that they look more attractive on the beach or to please their partners. Hair removal from the genital area is also performed by some women for sexual reasons.

Special Situations
Having prominent or excess hair growth in body areas that are otherwise nearly hairless in most other women is a cause of concern among women and demands hair removal from such areas. This kind of hair growth can be due to specific genetic or racial characteristics or hormonal imbalances. Any medical condition underlying excess hair growth also requires consultation with a physician to deal with the cause of excess hair growth, without which any method of hair removal will not prove to be effective.

Sportspersons remove hair from their legs, as hairless legs are thought to enhance the body’s mobility and agility. Trans-sexual persons may have to get hair removed from face and/or genitals permanently, especially if they plan to undergo gender re-assignment surgery.

A medical condition of misdirected eyelashes called trichiasis, requires removal of the abnormal eyelashes so that vision is not adversely affected.

Hair removal from any body area is a personal choice; therefore, there is no set rule, and trends differ, depending on individual situation, requirements and preferences.
